Growing up, Grandmaster Flash’s White Lines (Don’t Do It) was one of my favorite songs. (I thought the lyrics were “White Lies,” but that’s another story.)
Here’s the origin of that killer bass line, Liquid Liquid’s “Cavern,” a funky, punky New York post-disco track with a badass video to match.

Tangentially related YouTube testamonial: Original Bay Area Dance style created in Oakland circa 1960 performed throughout the 70’s and early 80’s. Pre dating breakdancing and Hip-Hop, by the early 80’s this form of dance became known to me as “Robotting”. I wanted to be a robotter before I wanted to be a rapper.
